Muddy Creek WWTP HRT Facility

Project Overview

MSD will design and construct a new High-Rate Treatment (HRT) facility at the Muddy Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the City neighborhood of Sayler Park. The facility will initially be designed to treat 24 MGD of peak wet weather flow, with future expansion capabilities to accommodate up to 94 MGD of wet weather flow.

This project also anticipates:

  • New effluent pumping and disinfection.
  • Deep piles due to weak native soils.
  • Extensive dewatering due to proximity to the Ohio River.
  • Sheeting or other stabilization methods at the toe of the flood protection levee.
  • Close coordination with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) related to work on the existing flood control levee.
