REESE JOHNSON, SUPERINTENDENT OF THE COMPLIANCE SERVICES DIVISION

 

Reese Johnson has served as Superintendent of MSD's Compliance Services Division since 2019. Reese joined MSD in 2017 as a Principal Engineer and previously managed MSD's Operational Optimization ("Smart Sewers") program.

 

Prior to joining MSD, Reese worked for CH2M HILL (now Jacobs Engineering), the American Youth Foundation, and served on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard. Reese has a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a Master of Engineering degree in civil and environmental engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Ohio and the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute. Reese currently serves as the Chair of the Water Environment Federation’s (WEF) Intelligent Water Technology Community.

 

In his current position, Reese is responsible for ensuring MSD’s employees are safe, MSD and its customers are compliant with federal, state and local laws, and the organization is ready for the future. All safety, environmental, industrial waste, and consent decree compliance programs are managed by this division, and it provides full laboratory, remote monitoring/data collection, hydraulic modeling, and optimization services to MSD and its external customers. Reese also champions MSD’s research and innovation efforts to drive continuous improvement of our services for our ratepayers.
