Cincinnati , May 16, 2005 – The Metropolitan Sewer District’s (MSD) new Director, Bob Campbell, has been appointed to the National Association of Clean Water Agencies’ (NACWA) Board of Directors. NACWA is a nationally-recognized leader in environmental policy development and a sought-after technical resource on water quality and ecosystem protection issues.
“NACWA plays a major role in the development of environmental legislation and regulations,” said Campbell. “Since it was first established in 1980, the organization has become very well respected and has cultivated strong relationships with regulatory agencies, members of Congress, Presidential administrations and the Environmental Protection Agency. I am honored to be appointed to NACWA’s governing board and look forward to serving our members and the communities in which they live.”
Campbell’s responsibilities in this role include working with other board members to establish annual goals for the association, determine the allocation of the association’s resources, approve programs and activities of the association’s committees and provide committee oversight, establish strategic relationships with other organizations, oversee the management of the association’s activities through policy guidance and directives to the Executive Director, and oversight of staff activities.
Formerly known as the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA), NACWA is a national trade association representing more than 300 of the nation's publicly-owned wastewater treatment utilities. NACWA members serve the majority of the sewered communities in the United States and collectively treat and reclaim over 18 billion gallons of wastewater every day. MSD has been a member of NACWA since 1990.
