Information for Food Service Establishments & Restaurants

Due to the nature of their business, food service establishments and restaurants have particular requirements relating to wastewater disposal and treatment. Some of the key regulations, forms and important information pertaining to MSD's food service customers are available below.

If you have questions concerning the MSD Pretreatment Program, which regulates food service and other commercial/industrial users, please contact the Division of Industrial Waste at (513) 557-7000. Our professional staff will be glad to assist you in determining whether your company is covered by these regulations, as well as answer your questions on the subject of industrial wastewater processing and disposal.

  • WDPA, Part I (51 KB): The Wastewater Discharge Permit Application form is the mechanism through which Food Service Establishments register with MSD. This form must be printed, completed and mailed to MSD. Instructions (98 KB) for completing the form are also available.
  • New Restaurant Requirements: This explains MSD grease policy and how it affects Food Service Establishments.
  • Licensed Grease Hauler Listing: Current list of haulers registered with MSD and permitted to discharge restaurant grease at MSD's facilities.
  • Standard Drawings: These links provide specifications for the 24" monitoring manhole. Drawings may be viewed as a .gif file (Drawing Name), or an Autocad-compatible .dwf file (Accession Number). If needed, you may download a viewer for .dwf files.
  • Non-MSD Resources: MSD is not responsible for these sites; however, they are provided as a convenience to IU's.
    • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) System Search (links to non-MSD site): Tool provided by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) to look up SIC numbers for industries.
    • NAICS Codes (links to non-MSD site): Tool provided by the U.S. Census Bureau to look up codes in the North American Industry Classification System.
