MSD Notice of Construction:
Miamitown Interceptor Sewer, Contract No. 3
In Whitewater and Colerain Townships
Hamilton County, Ohio
September 1, 2006– The Board of County Commissioners recently approved funding for the third contract of the Miamitown Interceptor Project. Managed by the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD), construction is scheduled to begin October 2, 2006 and is expected to be completed by February 2, 2008. The construction contractor is Affholder, Inc. and the construction cost of the project is $9,000,000.
The Miamitown Interceptor Sewers Project, when completed, will provide sewer service to parts of Miamitown and Whitewater Township. Contract No. 3 is the third part of four parts of the overall project, the final portion being the Taylor Creek Pump Station which is to be installed in 2007-2008 at the east terminus of Contract No. 3.
This phase of the project begins at the Taylor Creek Wastewater Treatment plant on the east side of the Great Miami River and end at the previously competed Contract No. 2 of the project in Miamitown just north of the intersection of Mill and Orchard Streets. The project involves microtunnel installation of 2,063 feet of 48-inch internal diameter interceptor sewer.
This project is part of MSD's ongoing Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which is focused on continually updating and improving the operation of MSD's wastewater collection and treatment systems.

Owned by Hamilton County and operated by the City of Cincinnati, MSD is committed to continually maintaining and improving its wastewater collection and treatment systems for the betterment of both public and environmental health.
