Mill Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Incinerator Replacement CIP 2004-10, SS # 5565

Cincinnati, July 18, 2007- The Board of County Commissioners recently approved funding for the Mill Creek WWTP Incinerators Replacement Project. Mill Creek WWTP is managed by the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD). Construction is scheduled to begin mid-July 2007 and expected to be substantially complete by first quarter of 2010. It is expected to be fully completed by first quarter 2011.

This project at the Mill Creek WWTP will replace the existing Multiple Hearth sludge incineration system with a Fluidized Bed incineration system with improved air quality emissions characteristics. The construction cost of the project as awarded is $58,671,000 to general contractor Kokosing Construction Co.

This project is part of MSD's ongoing Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which is focused on continually updating and improving the operation of MSD's wastewater collection and treatment systems.

Every day, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD) manages the effective collection and treatment of more than 200 million gallons of wastewater and actively maintains 3,000 miles of sanitary and combined sewers that run through the 49 municipalities and townships of Hamilton County. Owned by Hamilton County and operated by the City of Cincinnati, MSD is committed to continually maintaining and improving its wastewater collection and treatment systems for the betterment of both public and environmental health.
